The Asylum's 2019 "mockbuster," titled "Monster Island", was released at the same time and date as "Godzilla: King of the Monsters." It's about an island called "Monster Island" where a monster lives, and the monster is, in a way, the island.


This movie is about an asylum and has a budget that's about the same as a large kid's meal. It also uses it sparingly. It only features a few (get more info) characters, and all the major actors are on one set. This allows for quick filming during lunch breaks. It is a kaiju movie and that's just how they do, so perhaps The Asylum won’t do such an awful job.
